The Beginning of Isabella's Blog!

Profile
‘Art, design, print, fabric, colour, texture, movement, light, beauty, quality, vitality, freedom; this is not work, it is a way of life we choose to live. Enrichment through artistry. Inspired by living.’ Georgina Von Etzdorf.
I am currently a second year student studying Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors at Bath Spa University. I have a great passion for sourcing luxurious fabrics. My sketchbooks are full of beautiful fabric samples, from sensuous silks, fine cashmeres, satin, velvets and hand dyed silk habotai. Opulent colour schemes and texture is a predominant feature throughout my work. I particularly enjoy researching and putting together inspirational mood boards as a spring board for the symbiosis of my creations. At the start of a project I am greatly inspired by the Collezioni magazine, particularly the embellishments and manipulated garments. Hand crafted smocking, pleating and a mix of print; embellishment and embroidery are areas that I hope to pursue over the next few years at university. I would love to design a collection of luxury scarves alongside bespoke interior accessorizes. Most recently I have transferred my pen and ink style drawings via CAD in order to enhance my computer skills, and to see my work in another dimension when transferred onto fabric. I am particularly exciting about taking my work into a new direction.
I feel that it is so important to embrace work with energy and enthusiasm, despite the frustrations along the way. I aim to produce work that is carefully considered, well researched and resolved to a high level of sophistication. I am ambitious to develop new skills and avenues of thought and gain a wider set of experiences to feed back into my study. Most importantly I have the determination to pursue a career within a creative environment.
